About Me

I am a textiles surface designer with a great understanding of its function and application. I specialise in hand embroidery, embellishment and in prints for fashion. I am a passionate, experimental, and am unafraid to take risks or to push boundaries with my work. Because of this, I am the kind of person suited to the fashion industry which has ever changing rules, challenges and expectations. All images and text are copyright to Stacie Charlton.

Minor Project Finals

These are some of my finals from my minor project, I am really happy with my finished pieces and feel like my embroidery has improved and developed a lot, even though it was hard to create textures with stitch only, I think I'm parts my embroidery is subtle and descriptive.

Couching down different threads and wools

I enjoyed machine sewing into hessian, it creates an orignal piece.

This frog top took maybe the longest to do, there is a build up of layers of embroidery to create textures, but I am really happy with the finished piece!

I love the texture of the flowers on this piece, and how i have blended the colours, combined with the French knots

These are from the same collection of images as the embroidery below, this my my first real attempt at screen printing and I was really happy that my prints were chosen and selected to be exhibited at the Indigo trade show in Paris.

From the previous drawings, these are my embroidery samples (in different stages). I used stitch and applique , the similar to the way I drew to build up layers to create colour and texture.

1st Year Drawing Sheets

These drawings were created using layers of mixed media, i used pencils, pens and paints with dyes, watercolours and crayons to create a resisting technique and then reworked into that overlapping with paint.

hello!

I have not updated this for quite a few months, but I have decided to try and keep it a regular thing!
Im a few weeks into my Minor Project now so I might be backtracking and uploading images from my second year before im updating with current things.

Individual Options - Tribal

These are the final images from my Individual Options project. This is the first time I used Photoshop and my drawings to create digital print designs. I then embroidered into my designs afterwards enhancing the print adding embellishments and stitches. A symmetrical theme runs through my collection, as well as bright colours and tribal shapes.
